Bittersweet

Sometimes changes can be hard or even bittersweet! I certainly am knowing that more than ever right now.  I have accepted a third grade position at Evergreen Park World Cultures Community School in Brooklyn Center for the following school year! My family has had a lot of big changes lately. My husband Eric has started a new job. It is a job he has wanted FOREVER! He got it, and we are so proud of him.  I was always honest and open about my son Alex's struggles with living with ADHD and anxiety disorder. He is an awesome, rocking kid who is doing so well with the help of our great doctors, and Elaine his counselor. Unfortunately, Eric used to bring Alex to all of his appointments and cannot do so anymore.   That is now an added MOM job! My new school will be only 15 minutes from my house and starts later than Wyoming so I can now bring him to his appts. before school!
After finishing my 9th year at Wyoming, and my 11th in the school district it is really hard to imagine not seeing all of the faces in the hallway next year that I know so well, see the families of past students who I have grown to love dearly, and work with what I think are some of the world's BEST teachers! I know in the next year I will have my heart stolen by many more students, just as you have taken a piece of mine this year!!
With that- I will miss you all so much! Keep learning, growing and making yourself proud each and every day!

Lots, and lots, and LOTS of LOVE,
Mrs. R.

School's Out For Summer!

It is hard to believe that the month of June is ticking away fast.  This year was a year that I did not want to end. I hope the summer has been full of exciting things for those of you that are still checking the blog.  I have already painted a few rooms, done a lot of pinterest projects, and read some great books! My biggest job has been being Alex and Aiden's mom taxi taking them to fencing class, t-ball and soccer and even to the park.  I hope you all have found a few great books and have had some time in the sprinkler!

You are all missed terribly!

Raising dough for Wyoming

As one of the LUCKY 13 people who was chosen to sleep on the roof I can say...1. Way to go Wyoming! That was a lot of cash for i-pads in a short amount of time. 2. The roof was so much more fun that I had expected.  3. Nothing is better than sleeping in my own bed at home!

The blog kind of got lost in the shuffle the second half of the year. The school district is trying to get all classroom blogs through one website or link. It has been a big work in progress. Next year parents should expect to see more regular updates like last year! It has been such an amazing school year! I was blessed with the most amazing class any teacher could ask for. The kiddos learned so much -  absorbed everything I put in front of them, and even asked for more. Thank you for being such supportive families!

I pass them on to you as fourth graders ready to keep growing and learning!

Love and hugs,
Mrs. R.

Yikes...It has been a while!

Sometimes life gets busy, really busy! Unfortunately for the Rademacher family most of November and December was filled with sickness. Yuck! January has been eventful. Surgery had a lot of unexpected bumps, but after a few extra hospital stay days, about 10 extra doctor's appointments, and about 5 new prescriptions I can say I am starting to feel a little bit like the old Mrs. R.

I know that Miss Vinzant is doing an amazing job with my class, but I sure miss them.  I did go in on Friday to work on report cards for a few hours, and then proceeded to go straight home to nap for 3 hours. (I am glad I have two more weeks to rest up before returning!) I know they are in the middle of my FAVORITE reading unit on volcanoes, and can say I am a bit jealous that she gets to teach this one! (There are so many fun extras we do with this one!) When I return we will begin writing our All About Me books where students get to publish a real hard cover book of their own. It is a brutal writing process for the teacher (parent volunteer editors will be needed), but the finished product is absolutely amazing.  We will also begin a new science unit (for me too) called sun, moon and stars! Lots of fun coming up soon!

Have a great rest of January! Stay warm!
Love,
Mrs. R.

Halloween

Halloween was a great time in third grade.  In the morning we visited each of the other third grade classrooms and did different activities.  We made some great jack-o-lantern windsocks, read spooktacular style with flashlights in the VERY dark classroom, and had a great time participating in the annual Wyoming Elementary Halloween parade.  It is always fun to see the staff get in the spirit as well as the kiddos.  Both of my boys have attended the parades over the years up until they have started school where we live in Roseville.  This year's parade was a bit bittersweet for me as it was the last one where one of my boys with be with me.  Aiden starts kindergarten in the fall. His first parade was when he was 2 months old dressed up as Elvis.   The school where my son Alex attends does not celebrate any holidays at school, like much of the other school districts surrounding ours.  I am so glad to be part of such a fun school and community like Wyoming!

Exploring shadows in science

In science we have been learning about light and shadows.  The kiddos learned that a shadow is formed when light cannot pass through something.  We also learned about things being translucent, transparent and opaque. After going over all of the vocabulary for the lesson, the class got to work on creating hand shadow animals.  They sure had a lot of fun using flashlights to make the shadows all around the classroom.
