Things in room 126 have been busy, sad, exciting, and real.
In language arts we spent a lot of time talking about sequence. I did a demonstration on how to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich using the classes exact step by step directs, and well...it was a learning experience on the importance of being descriptive and including necessary details. I had the opportunity to spread peanut butter with my hands, squirt jelly all over, and cause quite a mess! I sure got their attention...
We studied Georgia O'Keefe and her style of art. The class knows very
well that art is not my personal strong suit...Actually I really stink
at it, but LOVE teaching it to kids so much! I love watching them put
their own creativity and touch onto a piece of paper, or create
something wonderful from scraps. Our watercolor paintings turned out
BEAUTIFUL!!!
Unfortunately, we have spent a great deal of time in our class talking about Cancer and Leukemia. Sitting the classes down to share heartbreaking news that yet another child in our class was diagnosed with Cancer was not something I had experience doing. They handled it the best their little hearts could. There were so many hugs and questions that day...
